I thought Juggler's legacy was being one of the most busted leaders in Puzzle & Dragons back in the day.

I have been in love with the main series FF games, probably since before the narrator of this channel was born. I love the games. But… all these references to spin-offs and ancillary games within the FF “universe” leave me just kind of uninterested in the video. “Tactics Advance 2”, “Knights of the Crystal”, “Tactics Advance”, “Airborne Brigade”, “Tactics S”, “Record Keeper”. I’m sure all of these games each have niche dedicated fanbases… but none of this stuff is what I think about when someone mentions the term “Final Fantasy”.

It's a good thing FF VIII's writing team pulled back on the Laguna flashbacks. Flashbacks are incredibly hard to pull off in narrative writing, noted for slowing down the main story. This was especially true in FF VIII's case, where the flashbacks often took us out of the present action and threw us in to random scenarios throughout Laguna's life that largely dwindled the urgency and impact of the main narrative.

Can they make a good game, make it good and with a short team? Like, better graphics, use the tech to polish things. Make a good continuation from 8. But not, an over the top ultra AAAA game that is completely different? Keep it nice, correct the problems with the junction system and stuff, new cool GPs, features, locations. Like, focus on making a better 8, and a good continuation-ending to the story. Switch showed that "hardcore home console" style games can coexist with "mobile, continuation of the snes or psx era" style of games (Tears of the Kingdom and Zelda echoes of Wisdom, Mario Wonder and Odysey, Metroid prime 4 and Metroid dread).

I didn't like Laguna at all, never took him seriously. Was always not like a secondary but tertiary character to me. But that doesn't mean I would not play a game based on him. The most important thing is the story and gameplay I guess, which would be yet to be seen.

I would love any new game in the FF8 Universe ❤

ff8 has the fact that despite Ultimecia being possessed by Hyne that Hyne is still an ever present power in it, so the sorceress hunts continuing, more sorceresses coming about and hyne finally succeeding are all part of potential possibilities.

If I remember correctly, the Vampire job appeared in Bravely Default and it functioned similar to a Blue Mage.

A prequel is not a good idea, Laguna is both too humorous and mixing that with the androgynous style of characters Square-Enix makes lately is not a good idea. Though an HD 2D gamebwith Laguna could work well.

I haven't played more than an hour or two of FFVIII, but I've always admired it despite its reputation. I see it as a good idea with a lot of flaws. Although I'd rather see FF6 get remade first - and I love FF9, so that rumored remake works for me - I think FF8 stands to benefit the most from a remake.

Video critique: The music seems too loud in contrast with your subtle speaking. It seems harder to hear what you're saying than in the normal videos.

A FFVIII sequel where you get to play as Laguna searching for Squall after the events of FFVIII would be unique but pretty cool. A prequel would be even cooler though. Getting to play through Laguna's whole arc from the time he joined the Galbadian Army up until he becomes president of Esther would be like FFVIII's equivalent of what Crisis Core is for FFVII.

I got my first FF (7) at 10 years old, and it was a very hard game for a 10 year old to get into, especially because that the guard scorpion was actually quite a hard battle. It took a while but I was eventually hooked to the point where it was the most important thing in my life. I loved it, but I really connected with 8. I was 12 when 8 came out and I spent my high schhol years replaying those 2 games over and over. I connected with Squall and his introvert nature (Cloud too, just Squall is deeper and more complex). With FF8, I connected with the adventure of growing up into an adult and the thought or idea of university, the adventure of leaving the nest and exploring the world, getting a job and being paid, finding love and finding myself. It was a game that dragged me up, in respect to maturity. The adult theme of 7, and more so 8, are what make them special to me.

I'd love a remake with the originally planned content added back in. The biggest problems with FF8, for me, were enemies leveling up with you (and the necessity of drawing magic and fleeing encounters, which made the encounters feel almost pointless) and the story, which was up its own ass at the best of times. Despite those two problems, I've always loved 8. It gets far more hate than it has ever deserved (probably by players who just discovered the series with 7 and were expecting more of that game). It's one of the most beautiful and graphically impressive games on the PS1, the music is incredible and I love the characters (with exception being to Squall, though he gets a pass because he eventually stops being so emo). If they added the Laguna parts back in and adjusted the existing story to work with them AND (big and) they adjusted the battle system so that it didn't feel so unnecessary for most of the game, I'd be blown away. I honestly believe there is a lot of room to revisit older games and add parts that had been cut or adjust elements that didn't turn out as the devs planned. It'd have to be done with respect towards the original, which is definitely an issue for today's game industry, but it could be a really interesting experiment. I'd say don't do an FF7R and make a mondo expensive, super-charged remake; do something that's nice to look at, but affordable for the studio--something that feels like the original while improving the graphics and gameplay a bit and re-adding the cut content. It could be awesome.

As a 12 year old playing, I thought it was pronounced lunatic as well, but after playing 7 again and learning the word lunar it made more sense to me to be pronounced "lunar" (moon) lun-atic. Lunatic Pandora (from the skies)

Some of my deepest memories are attached to going to Toy's R Us as a kid in the summer time (shortly after the game released) and paying $20 to have my life and taste level change forever. i didn't get too far out of Balamb as a child lmao but i specifically remeber playing FF8 with my window open and the sun on 110% brightness w/ a nice cool breeze...man. I'm grateful and would collapse over a Remake annoucement !

Actually the most broken item/materia arrangement is on ff8 for the gf setting of Eden. Though other dmg accumulation can sum up to hundreds of thousand, only Eden attack that could actually break the limit of 1 hit 9999 dmg to 130-190k (depend on how fast you clik the square button). I mean the only grudging thing in the game is limiting the dmg of your char right?.

Was Minwei in ff2 not a green mage? I feel like he was considered a green mage in DFFOO but its been a while since i played either of them.

8 utterly deserves a sequel! It was the most fun one to play from FF7-FF9. I enjoyed FF7 characters, FF8 gameplay and FF9 story.

Every single video about Final Fantasy VIII has to start by talking about Final Fantasy VII, I wish they would stop doing that.

I was really hoping that we would get Green Mage in Dawntrail as opposed to Pictomancer, but it should still be fun.

Basch being the original protagonist is supposedly a myth. Seems like there is one source: an interview translated from Japanese to French to English with lots of people playing a game of telephone since then. Being the first character designed does not equal being the original protagonist.
